Hello, my name is Corinne Pollard and I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and I have been practicing as a therapist since 2004. I have completed a four year diploma training as an integrative therapist which means that I have knowledge and experience of a broad range of theoretical perspectives and in 2011 I also trained and qualified in couples counselling and psychotherapy to diploma level.
The overall approach in which I was trained is transpersonal which simply means that all aspects of ourselves are included – mind, body, spirit and soul which can assist us in seeing the bigger picture of our lives unfolding and gain a fresh perspective on what might be troubling us rather than getting stuck in old patterns of seeing our situation.
Adopting this more expansive approach can give us a lot of flexibility in how we work together. We might start by exploring the particular issue that brings us into meeting together and try to make more sense of what might be going on. We might discover links with events and relationships experienced in the past that can help us gain insight and understanding into what is happening currently and this can often be enhanced by opening up to our own inner guidance, intuition and wisdom that we may not have tuned into previously. Working in this way can be exciting, profoundly inspiring and creative and if you are drawn to working with me I look forward to sharing all I know with you.
Originally trained in social work, I have been given opportunities to work in a variety of roles including criminal justice, community music, adult education, domestic violence and abuse with both perpetrators and victims. Over the years I have explored many paths of growth and self development as a means of empowering myself including meditation, healing, performing musician and composer, tantra, training as a counsellor and psychotherapist, dancing, visual arts, body and voice work. In my work with clients both individually and in group workshops I have enjoyed experimenting with combining those elements of each that I personally find to be the most powerful tools for transformation.
I have always been interested in groupwork and over the last fifteen years I have run groups as diverse as vocal improvisation and live band workshops as well as more formal programmes based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) principles. One area of my work gave me experience in facilitating accredited groupwork programmes specifically focussing on anger. Effective as these groups might be, I felt that there was a depth of human contact that was lacking and that the majority of anger management programmes out there were aimed at men and not meeting the needs of women. This led me to consider how I might improve on what is currently available and develop a pathway specifically for women focusing on reframing anger in order to harness it’s positive energy and empower women to reach their true potential – an issue that is dear to my heart. Out of this came r-a-g-e and Empowerment Skills and I am continuing to develop workshops in communication skills and relationships.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my website and if you are ready to join with me on your own journey of discovery you will be warmly welcomed as together we search for the hidden treasure that is the true reflection of ourselves.
